Sculptor
Born in Hungary. Studied in Vienna (1832-8) and in London, first under William Behnes and then at the Royal Academy on the recommendation of Sir Francis Chantrey. Engel exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1840-7 and then went to Rome where he worked for almost twenty years. He then returned to Hungary but exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1888.
