Born in St. James's, London between October and December 1860. She was the daughter of Charles and Maria Newman (the latter born c.1833 in London and who was a widow living on her own means in 1891). Florence was studying art in 1891 and had already begun exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1890. She married the sculptor Frederick Thomas Callcott (c.1854-1923) in 1912. She died in Hendon.
