Born in Berlin, Germany of Jewish parents. Ingeborg (Inge) studied first with Hermann Nonnenmacher (1892-1988) between 1936-7, and then at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts from 1937-8. She was forced to flee Germany in 1938 and came to England in 1939. Ingeborg studied at the Royal Academy Schools for two terms until the war forced its closure.
From 1941-3 she attended sculpture classes with Benno Schotz at Glasgow School of Art. Afterwards she remained in Glasgow until 1947 teaching in nursery schools under a war service scheme. In 1950 she met the Australian artist Grahame King, at The Abbey Arts Centre in Hertfordshire, England. They were married and moved to Australia in 1951, settling in Melbourne. Inge works and exhibits under her married name.
