Sculptor
Arrived in Scotland in 1938 to study sculpture at the GSA (1946-1950). Later taught there and exhibited at the RSA and the RGIFA from 1950 to 1968. In 1953, a mother and child group in reinforced cement for a primary school at Milton in the Chirnsyde area of Glasgow caused a lively debate and was threatened with removal because the figures were in the nude. However, the council's Education Committee eventually decided the work could remain. During the proceedings, Douglas Percy Bliss, the principal of Glasgow School of Art described Zunterstein as 'one of the best students they had had at the school of art for years.' The registration of Zunterstein's death suggests he was visiting London when he died.
