John White Somerville

Sculptor
Born in Dalkeith, Midlothian. Somerville worked as a bank clerk c.1901 and then went on to exhibit five times at the Royal Scottish Academy. During the First World War he served as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Marine Light Infantry. Somerville was killed in action on 22nd June 1916 and was buried at Bois de Noulette British Cemetery, Aix-Noulette, France.
