Sculptor
Her given name was Georgette L. Le Jeune (or Lejeune) but was later known as 'Ginette'. She was born and raised in Paris where she became a pupil of Jean-George Achard. Ginette afterwards studied in London with Charles Doman. In the summer of 1923 she married Henry R. Bingguely in Kensington, London. They were living in the Coulsdon and Purley area of South London in 1939. At this date Georgette was doing 'unpaid domestic duties' and Henry was described as an ARP warden at a shelter and a designer for manufactured 'electric clocks, instruments etc.'
Ginette exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and the Royal Academy of Arts. Among her known works is a bronze bust of Lord Nuffield signed by the artist and dated 1937 in the collection of Nuffield College, Oxford. In 1948 she received the Cross of Chevalier de la LeĢgion d'Honneur at a ceremony in Paris. An article in 'The Swiss Observer' dated 16 April 1948 marking this event provides further details of her career.
