Painter, watercolourist
Born in Edinburgh. His father was Robert Brown, a Master brassfounder and designer of gasoliers. His mother was Margaret Kellock. Alexander exhibited extensively in Scotland and England and was elected a full member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1908. Brown was the co-founder of the Scottish Artist's Benevolent Association, and was its President until 1922. He was also President of the Glasgow Art Club. Brown died in Lamlash, Arran.
