Born in Hill Cliffe (also spelt High Cliffe and High Cliff in census returns), Cheshire. She was the daughter of Frederick Midwood (born c.1819 in Manchester), a calico merchant and manufacturer. In 1905 Florence married John Gibson Fleming and lived in London and (possibly) Sussex until her death. She exhibited animal subjects between 1897-12 in London, Liverpool and Manchester.
