Robinson born in Kendal, Westmoreland, the son of the cabinet maker, William Robinson (born c.1852 in Thornley, Lancashire) and brother to two cabinet makers (William James and Alfred E. Robinson) all living at 1, Winfield Grove, Leeds in 1901. [See Census Returns of 1901 RG13 piece 4232 folio 26 page 43]
