Sculptor
Born in Turin, Italy. Raised partly in France and partly in Italy. He spent time in Rome possibly in the studio of the Danish sculptor, Bertel Thorvaldsen. Also studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris under François-Joseph Bosio. Lived principally in France between the early 1830s and 1840s, but moved permamnently to London in 1848 following the abdication of Louis-Philippe. He died very suddenly in Passy, France (either on 28 or 29 December). The older of his two sons, Maurizio (Maurice) Marochetti, entered the Italian diplomatic service but also practised as a sculptor.
