Sculptor
Born Somerset, East Cape. Died Cape Town. Educated in Grahamstown, he moved with his parents to Kenya in 1912, where he encountered African and Arab subjects that later formed an important theme in his work. From 1923 Mitford-Barberton studied in London, possibly at the Royal College of Arts. He returned to Kenya in 1927 and set up a studio. He was an active member of the South African Society of Arts and completed a number of high profile architectural and monumental commissions in South Africa.
