Sculptor, teacher
Born Czechoslovakia. Studied in Prague, Munich and Vienna. Worked as sculptor in Prague from 1924, producing many portraits. Came to England 1938. Principal of School of Sculpture of Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. Showed at Venice Biennale before war.
Commissions include: three large reliefs for Pavilion of Power and Production for Festival of Britain, 1951; work for schools includes Hoddesdon, Albrighton and Moreton Hall; Torsos purchased and publicly sited by Harlow Art Trust 1955; large reclining figure for Hammersmith site 1959; State Museum Prague; Nuremburg City Museum.
Exhibitions include: exhibited at Royal Academy 1940 and 1953; SB 1951; LCC 1960; AC 1961; South London Art Gallery 1962 (memorial exhibition).
