Wood carver, teacher of woodcarving and gilding, picture framer, furniture dealer
Born in Paris. He settled in England before 1891 and married Mione Violet Cooke in 1911. From the late 1890s he taught wood carving and gilding at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and at Camberwell. Stuttig was a member of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society and exhibited in a number of their exhibitions, only some of these included work broadly relating to sculpture. From the mid-1930s he seems to have styled himself Louis Frederic Stuttig and to have retired to Worthing. It is assumed he died here in December 1947 because Mione is mentioned as his widow in the Probate Calendar.
Wealth at death: £7,380 19s. 4d.
Probate date: 13 March 1948
