In his book 'Historical Sketch' (1987), A. J. Jones notes that he and his brother established a manufacturing business of galvanished iron and galvanised hardware goods in Church Lane, Wolverhampton. In 1885 they bought the Stour Valley Ironworks and Shrubbery Ironworks in Walsall Street. These were previously owned by G. B. Thornycroft and Company. The works were still active under the Jones brothers in 1897. See pp. 167-168.
