Listed as the second son of Thomas Wyon (senior, 1767-1830). Trained by his brother Thomas Wyon (junior, 1792-1817). In 1819 and 1821 he was awarded the gold medal of the Society of Arts for medal dies for figures. Won a silver medal of the Royal Academy for a die with the head of Apollo. Suceeded his father as Chief engraver of Seals on the 10 January, 1831. His sons were Joseph Shephard Wyon, Alfred Benjamin Wyon and Allan Wyon. Forrer lists medallic works produced by the artist between c. 1821 and 1857. He also lists a number of sources: see vol. 6, (1916), pp. 581-585.
