Born in Nottingham. She was the daughter of Zebedee Jessop (born c.1828 in Swineshead,
Lincolnshire), Draper. Florence studied art in Nottingham and then in London, probably at the School of Art Wood Carving in South Kensington (c.1891). She went on to teach wood carving and had a job as an 'instructress' with Staffordshire County Council in 1911. Florence's sister, Effie Grace, also studied wood carving and was teaching privately c.1911. Their father died in 1907 leaving effects valued (after being resworn) of £68,413 10s. Florence may have died in Eastbourne in 1947.
