Daughter of John William Taplin, sanitary caster. Student at Stoke School of Art. Began work for Josiah Wedgwood and Sons Ltd. at the Etruria Works in 1917, became one of their most prolific designers in the 1930s and between 1956-62 ran the combined china and earthenware handpainting departments. There are a number of her designs in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
