Born in Southampton, Hampshire in the summer of 1872. He was the Modelling Instructor at Hanley Art School (1907); Headmaster of Hanley Art School (1920); Master of Stoke Art School (1920-32) [see Haggar (1953), p. 44]. An undated report entitled 'Burslem School of Art' describes him as head of the School of Sculpture of the amalgamated School of Burslem Art School.
