Born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. Died in Leicester. Studied at Wolverhampton School of Art from 1931-5 under R.J. Emerson, and then at the Royal College of Art from 1935-8. He was Rome Scholar in Sculpture at the British School at Rome 1938-9. Albert taught at Hull College of Art (Head of Sculpture) 1945-7, followed by Leicester School of Art until 1963 and lastly at Leicester Polytechnic (Head of the School of Fine Art) 1963-1978 when he retired.
