Sculptor, teacher
Born in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, Warwickshire. Won a scholarship to Birmingham School of Art and studied there full time from 1923-33. He also worked in William Bloye's studio at this time. In 1934 he set up a sculpture studio in Harborne, Birmingham and ran a business as 'Bridgwater and Upton' from 1937-45. He taught at Dudley School of Art and then at Birmingham School of Art. He died in Birmingham.
