His skills are described as follows: 'The practical knowledge of Mr. Jackson of the mechanical process of Modelling in connection with his power as a draughtsman and knowledge of applied design, induce the Committee to believe that this arrangement will be highly conducive to the best interests of the School' [summary 'Annual Report' 1873]
