Frank Mowbray Taubman
Other names: Francis
Born 13 July 1868
Died 9 December 1946
Active: 1894 - 1938
Country of birth and death: England
Sculptor, medallist, painter
Born in London. He was the son of Robert Taubman (born c.1841 in Ballaugh, Isle of Man) a chemist, chemist's assistant and in 1901 a manufacturing chemist and employer. Taubman seems to have worked with his father up to c.1891, although was presumably also training in art at this date given he began exhibiting in 1894. Work by Taubmann was included in the 1910 Liverpool Exhibition, in contravention of the rules of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He wrote to the society to explain that the work was included without his knowledge or consent [16 January 1911, Royal Society of British Sculptors: Minutes of Council Meetings, no.1]. Died in Worcester.
Wealth at death: £198 18s. 8d.
Probate date: 5 February 1947
