Born Yorkshire. Studied at Huddersfield College of Art and then the Royal College of Art. Beaumont worked as an Art Master and Lecturer in Design at the Building Trade School, London between 1915-19. He became headmaster of Belfast School of Art in 1919 and remained there until 1951. His works include the war memorial at Longwood, Huddersfield which was unveiled before 1920. Beaumont returned to Huddersfield in 1957, and died in 1968.

Crichton (who fully embraced Modernism) was repremanded by Beaumont (who thought it 'inappropriate') for an Art Deco poster for school ball. May have contributed to Crichton's resignation.
Feud with Newton Herbert Penprase
Tension between Headmaster and Teacher said to be long running resulting in a physical altercation in January 1932. Penprase was suspended, later apologised and was reinstated however the two never reconciled.
