Sculptor
Born in Copenhagen (or possibly Iceland). In 1797 he won a scholarship to study in Rome where he settled for many years. During this time he completed a number of commissions in his native Denmark and returned there permanently in 1838. He died suddenly on 24 March 1844 having bequeathed a large sum to fund the building of a museum in Copenhagen to house preparatory models and finished examples of his work.
