Sculptor
Born in Dublin. He was the oldest son of Terence Farrell (1798-1876) and one of six brothers who all became sculptors. James studied in his father's studio and they occasionally collaborated, for example on a bust of the Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, exhibited under both their names in 1842. One of his most successful works was 'The Pet Dove's Return' which won a prize in Dublin and was exhibited at the Royal Academy and Great Exhibition of 1851.
