Sculptor, medallist
Born in Newport, Fife. Son of George D. Macdougald, public analyst (born c.1854 in Edinburgh). He probably began his studies in Glasgow and then attended the Royal Academy Schools in London. During the First World War MacDougald served in the London Scottish, and then in the camouflage section of the Royal Engineers. Notes compiled by the Archivist of the Royal Society of British Sculptors, state that MacDougald may have been commissioned by King George V to produce an equestrian statue or statuette.

Awarded a first prize of £30 for a model of a design, a first prize of £20 for a set of four models of a figure from the life, and a silver medal and £10 prize for a design for a medal, in 1905.
