Born in Chelsea, London. He was the son of Henry Young (1842-1929), bronze founder, engineer, foundry owner. Arthur was usually known by his second name, Stanley Young or as A. Stanley Young. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools and was awarded a Landseer Scholarship.
