Sculptor, teacher
Born in Southampton, Hampshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art, London and then taught at Westminster School of Art and the Central School of Arts, London. During the Second World War he was one of a number of artists who worked at the Directorate of Camouflage in Leamington Spa. One of his co-workers was the painter, Victorine Foot who he later married. After the war they lived in Edinburgh, where Schilsky was head of sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art from 1946 to 1969. Schilsky was elected: ARSA (1952), RSA (1956), ARA (1957), and RA (1968).
