Son of the architect and furniture designer, Sidney Barnsley (1865-1926) and nephew of Ernest Barnsley (1863-1926), architect and designer. The Barnsley brothers worked in the Cotswolds and were associated with the craftsman and architect, Ernest Gimson (1864-1919).
