Edward Lowther Dunkley
Born 1864
Died 1942 (Presumed)
Active: 1889 - 1924
Country of birth and death: England
Sculptor, architectural stone carver, stonemason
Born in Newington, London. Edward's father, Henry Dunkley Junior (born c.1840 in Hoxton) was a bookseller and his grandfather, Henry Dunkley Senior (born c.1818 in Birmingham), was a stonemason and sculptor. It is not known whether Edward received some of his training from his grandfather but this seems possible, especially as they were near neighbors c.1871. Edward Lowther exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1899 and 1924. His son, Edward O. Dunkley (born c. 1887 in Victoria Park), was a letter engraver in stone and marble c.1901. Edward Lowther died in Hackney.
