Sculptor, teacher of modelling
Born at Burslem, Staffordshire. Studied at Burslem School of Art and the National Art Training School (Royal College of Art). Ledward taught there and then became modelling master at Westminster and Blackheath Schools of Art. Richard's children included the sculptor, Gilbert Ledward (1888-1960), (Phyllis) Hilda Ledward who married the sculptor Newbury Abbot Trent (1885-1953) in 1911 and Enid who married the painter, Percy Jowett.
