Born in Switzerland. He was the son of Charles Blundstone (born c.1848 in Manchester), India rubber merchant. Studied art in Ashton-under-Lyne, at the South London Technical Art School (City and Guilds, Lambeth School of Art), and the Royal Academy Schools (1904-7).
