Born in Hampstead, London. He was a member of a highly successful family of architectural sculptors and wood carvers. William Whitworth was the son of William Aumonier Junior (1869-1943), brother of (Aubrey) Eric Stacy Aumonier (born 1899) and grandson of the founder of the firm, William Aumonier Senior (1839-1914). He died in Surrey between July and September 1975.
