Born in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. She was the daughter of William F. White (born c.1833 in Blackheath) who was the vicar of Stonehouse in Gloucestershire. The family had some means as there were four servants employed in 1891 in Stonehouse and one or two thereafter when Mabel White was living in London.
