Born in Switzerland. His daughter, Josephine Castioni (born c.1863 in Switzerland) married Gottardo Induni in 1887. Died at 19 Melfort Road, Thorston Heath, Surrey. Castioni carved Princess Louise's marble statue of Queen Victoria (1893) in Kensington Gardens. (See letter from Castioni's assistant [Somvini] to Office of Works on 3 June 1898 about request to copy a part of the design of the statue. --> National Archives, Works/20/77.
