Born at Borgerhout, Anvers. Died at Schaerbeek, Brussels. Studied first at the Académie Royale des Beaux-arts de Bruxelles, Brussels and then at the École des Beaux-arts in Paris. Vinçotte was appointed professer of sculpture at the Institut Supérieur National des Beaux-Arts in Anvers where he taught from 1886 to 1921. He created numerous portrait busts, statues and equestrian monuments. Vinçotte received many prestigious commissions including statues of Leopold II and groups such as 'Le Brabant élevant le drapeau national' and the 'Quadrige du Cinquantenaire'.
