Painter, draftsman, sculptor
Born in Glasgow. He was the son of Wolf Mundlak, known as Willie Montlake, who worked in a clothing business and came from Novy Dwor in Poland. Eli was primarily a painter and draughtsman though he did make one or two pieces of sculpture. He was close friends with the artists Robert Frame and Helen Biggar (sculptor and film-maker) - all three shared a studio in London during the mid-1940s. Helen and Eli were married in 1948. A year after Helen's death in 1953 Eli left the UK for Ibiza in Spain and never returned. He is buried in Ibiza.
