Born in Croydon. He was the son of Charles Jackson (born c.1855 in Southwark), a manufacturer of varnish and colour in 1891. Charles the younger studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1910. During the First World War he served as a 2nd Lieutentant in the 7th East Surrey Regiment. Jackson exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1912 until 1964. Between 1924 and 1943 he stopped exhibiting sculpture and started showing paintings. There are two oil paintings by Jackson in the Government Art Collection, which are visible online at ArtUK (reference below).
