Born in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Georgina studied art in Taunton, Somerset, where she was awarded a medal for sculpture in 1885. Afterwards she attended art school in London. In 1889 Georgina married the sculptor Henry Bainsmith and they had one son. Henry died in 1893 and Georgina moved to Cornwall where she ran a photographic studio.
