Born in Davor, died in Zagreb. He was the son of a wood merchant. Kerdic initially trained as a locksmith in Zagreb. He studied in Paris (1900) working as an engraver and then in Vienna (from 1902) working for the Gillar Bronze Foundry to support himself. In 1913 he was appointed as a Professor in the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb (known as the Jugoslav Academy of Fine art from 1919). Kerdic worked primarily as a medallist and is considered one of the leading exponents of the time.
