Architectural sculptor
Born in Lambeth, London. He was the fourth of four generations of stone masons and architectural sculptors who operated a business from near Vincent Square in London. His great grandfather, John Daymond I started the firm c.1841, which was continued by his grandfather John Daymond II (c.1821-1898) and his father John Daymond III (c.1847-1934). John Dudley Daymond is first recorded as an architectural sculptor in the 1901 Census Returns. It is assumed he took over the family business sometime after 1911 on his father's retirement. In 1922 or 1923, Daymond's became a limited company. The firm was voluntarily wound up in February 1935 because it could not meet its liabilities.
