Sculptor, medallist
Born in Buckinghamshire. Sarah was the daughter of Edward Terry (born c.1800 in Buckinghamshire), master brewer. After her father's death she lived with her mother in Richmond and then with her sister in Hastings from about 1901. In 1869 Terry made a pair of statuettes that were reproduced in Parian by Copeland. The first, entitled 'Evangeline', is the eponymous heroine of a poem by Longfellow of 1847, and the second, 'Marguerite', is a character in Goethe's 'Faust'. Terry exhibited a terracotta statuette entitled 'Maidenhood' at the International Exhibition of 1871, London (Official Catalogue of the Fine Arts Department, Division I, Class II, East Galleries, cat. no. 2764, p. 135). She practiced as an artist up to 1881 but seems to have ceased activity after this date. She died in Hastings in 1913.
Wealth at death: £7,969 17s. 1d.
Probate date: 13 February 1914
