Born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. His son, Domenico Antonio (born c.1865 in Croydon) was a stone carver and mason who went on to become a sculptor. Domenico II married Ellen Jackson (born c.1842 in Hartest, Suffolk) who joined the family business as a plaster modeller. In 1881 a Charles Foreman (born c.1862 in Hartest, Suffolk) was boarding with Domenico and Ellen and working as a 'Modeller's Labourer'. His sister, Elizabeth Tonelli also worked as an assistant modeller. Probate was granted to his two sons, Domenico III and James.
