Mabey worked extensively on County Hall and carried out the bulk of the architect, Ralph Knott's designs for the sculpture on the exterior of the building. Among Mabey's works are the heraldic shields on the Crescent frieze; the caskets, torches and other details round the various ceremonial entrances to the building; a full-scale model of the main cornice; and models for the treatment of various elements in the Council Chamber. His finest carvings are situated above the Members' Entrance, Westminster Bridge Road, in the Members' Courtyard, over the doorway to the Members' Terrace and the heraldic panels on the Crescent frieze.
