The company may have been in their Maryhill location prior to this date based on information submitted by Archie McKay who is editing the papers of James Murray, a resident of Craigmont Street, Maryhill between 1898 and 1920. In Murray's records of about 1906 he notes: 'Also over this wall there was a small industry which was known as Moses Barlas engaged in stone masonry, and a spur line from the adjacent railway ran alongside the plant'.
