Policy: Formed by artists in opposition to the perceived conservativism of The Art Union of The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts at that time.
Rules: Members work had to pass a jury.
No member had a guarantee that his or her work would be hung (although subscribtion fees were still expected).
History or description: Society only mounted two exhibitions before internal discord reduced the membership (see rules).The society could not continue due to a lack of funds.
