Policy: Specialised in highly ornamented firegrates in a variety of Elizabethan, Jocobean, and styles from other periods.
Advertisement from 1913 states 'The Carron Company possess the only large collection of wood carvings, in low relief, executed at the inception of the Ironfounding Industry during the 18th Century. These carvings, which are the work of Flaxman and the Haworth Brothers, can be used and adapted to Architects special requirements.'
History or description: in 1764 John Adam became a partner in the firm and his brothers used it for the production of delicate cast iron ornamentation. Perhaps of more importance to the firm was William Haworth, one of three generations of carvers.
