History or description: This may be Christabel Pawling (born c.1856 in Bloomsbury, London), resident at 20, High Lane, Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Chorlton Cum Hardy in 1891 and married to Herbert Pawling, librarian (born c.1853 in Bloomsbury, London). Herbert Pawling was an older brother to Sydney Southgate Pawling, a librarian and then a partner in the publishing firm of William Heinemann from 1893. By 1901 Herbert Pawling and Christabel were living in London on independent means.
