Policy: "The Manchester Art Federation, consisting of eleven different local societies interested in one branch or another of art, was founded in 1920 to foster sympathetic relations between the art societies in the Manchester district, to promote art movements, to endeavour to raise the standard of artistic production and public taste, to secure the proper recognition of artists and craftsmen, to further such kindred objects as the Committee of the Federation might from time to time decide, and generally to act as a consultative committee on art matters" - Preface to September 1924 catalogue
