Policy: The federation organised annual exhibitions in collaboration with a number of Midland-based city art galleries from 1935 to c. 1939 [catalogues are available from 1936-1939] in which artists from the following societies took part:

Kettering and District Art Society
Lincolnshire Artists' Society
Malvern Art Club
Mansfield Art Society
Northampton and County Art Society

The society had its own president, vice-presidents and honorary secretaries. The selection committee for the 1936 exhibition was composed of two members of all of the participating societies and honorary members selected by the Committee of the Federation
The 1936 exhibition catalogue included an unpaged 'Foreword' which explains the aims of the Federation:
'This exhibition is the second of its kind, the first having been held last year at Kettering, of the Midlands by means of co-operation. The work is entirely that of members of the Societies name below and the outcome of the decision of a Selection Committee composed of two members from each of the federated Societies and certain honorary members selected by the Committee of the Federation.'
